stage of his work &ndash

Posted in new movie releases on 18.10.11

After the box office success of The Game Plan, it looks like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has committed himself to a similar career path to that of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Vin Diesel, though hopefully given his acting chops, itll be a little more varied.

But hes clearly in the “family film” stage of his work hes currently starring in Disneys reboot of Witch Mountain and now hes signed on to The Tooth Fairy. With Santa Clause director Michael Lembeck behind the Fox comedy, it finds him starring as an ordinary bloke who is drafted in to save the titular sprites kingdom.

Because this turned out so well.

An official sanction from LucasFilms has made it okay to laugh at Star Wars. Not the films though. You must remain stone-faced while Hayden Christiansen delivers dialogue and when rubber puppets pop up during the pod race. That is law.

What you can laugh at is a new animated series being developed by LucasFilms themselves to presumably cash in on the recent franchise-skewering made popular by "Robot Chicken" and "Family Guy." And the best way to do that is to hire Seth Green and Matthew Seinreich from "Robot Chicken." I posit, however, that the best way to ensure hilarity is to farm it out to France. (Variety)

ll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work.&rdquo

According to Slash Film, Christian Bale does not want Robin in any future Bat-flicks.

Apparently Bale said: “If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I’ll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work.”

Did you spot the obvious mistake? Slash Film did and so did we – ‘one of the new Batman films.’ Does anyone really see Bale talking like this? He’s been cagey about the chances of a third flick, and the chances of there being a Christopher Nolan helmed Batman 4: Batman In Chains are slimmer than The Riddler.

Still, we like the idea of a Bale going bonkers over Bruce Wayne’s ward.

Go to Slash Film to see what they think.

2010 adapted into a follow up flick

Posted in new movie releases on 29.09.11

On the heels of the loss of Anthony Minghella comes word that possibly the finest mind working in science fiction has died at the age of 90.

Arthur C Clarke, the man who worked with Stanley Kubrick to adapt Clarke’s story The Sentinel into 2001 and then saw his follow-up novel, 2010 adapted into a follow up flick, was one of the most influential science fiction writers of our time. He predicted satellites in orbit years before they appeared and his stories have been adapted many times into films and TV shows.

Born in Britain, Clarke moved to Sri Lanka in 1956 and, besides his writing, was best known for presenting Arthur C Clarke’s Mysterious world on TV during the ‘80s. Variety has more.
